# Scheduled Tasks

> Automate recurring tasks—run research, reports, monitoring, and analysis on schedules. Set it once, and Neuro handles it automatically.

## Overview

Scheduled Tasks let you automate recurring work. Instead of manually running the same task repeatedly, configure Neuro to execute it on a schedule:

* **Execute on schedule** — Daily, weekly, monthly, or custom schedules
* **Automate recurring work** — Research, reporting, monitoring, analysis
* **Save time** — Eliminate hours of repetitive manual work
* **Deliver consistently** — Same quality, same time, every execution
* **24/7 automation** — Tasks run around the clock without intervention

## Setting Up a Scheduled Task

### Step 1: Identify Your Task

What do you want to automate?

```
Examples:
- Research and summarize news
- Pull and analyze metrics
- Create reports
- Monitor competitors
- Check status/health
- Send reminders
- Track metrics
- Generate insights
```

Be specific:

* What data do you need?
* What time period? ("past 24 hours", "last week")
* What format should output be?
* Who receives it?
* What should happen with results?

```
### Step 2: Choose Your Schedule
When should it run?
```

Options:

* Daily at \[TIME]
* Weekly on \[DAY] at \[TIME]
* Monthly on \[DATE] at \[TIME]
* Custom days/times
* One-time at \[DATE/TIME]

Consider:

* When do you need results?
* What timezone?
* Business hours vs. off-hours?

```
### Step 3: Define the Output
How should results be delivered?
```

Options:

* Email to \[email address]
* Post to Slack #channel
* Save to Google Drive \[folder]
* Update spreadsheet \[sheet name]
* Send multiple places

Examples: ✓ "Email me a 5-bullet summary" ✓ "Post to Slack #marketing channel" ✓ "Save report to /Reports folder"

```
### Step 4: Test the Task
Run it manually first.
```

Process:

1. Ask Neuro to run the task now
2. Review output quality
3. Check formatting
4. Verify delivery location
5. Confirm with recipients (if applicable)

Then schedule it.

```
### Step 5: Schedule It
Create the recurring schedule.
```

Confirm:

* Schedule timing is correct
* Output destination is accurate
* Task description is specific
* All apps are connected
* Necessary permissions granted

Then activate the schedule.

```
## Best Practices
### ✅ Do's
```

✓ Be specific about timing "Every weekday at 8 AM EST" (Not "In the morning")

✓ Define clear outputs "Email to [team@company.com](mailto:team@company.com)" (Not "Let me know")

✓ Include time ranges for data "News from past 24 hours" (Not "Recent news")

✓ Use clear time zones "9 AM EST" not "9 AM"

✓ Test before scheduling Run manually first, verify, then schedule

✓ Monitor execution Check history for errors regularly

✓ Document the purpose Why is this task needed?

✓ Keep it reasonable Don't schedule too many at once

```
### ❌ Don'ts
```

✗ Don't be vague "Tomorrow" without time "News" without scope

✗ Don't forget to test Schedule without manual verification

✗ Don't ignore failures Monitor execution history

✗ Don't leave old tasks running Clean up obsolete tasks

✗ Don't schedule during peak times Avoid 9-10 AM, 4-5 PM

✗ Don't overload the system Space out heavy tasks

✗ Don't forget output destination Verify email/channel/folder exists

✗ Don't schedule without permissions Ensure all apps are connected

```
## Troubleshooting
### Task Didn't Execute
```

Check:

1. Is task enabled? (Not paused?)
2. Did the time pass? (Check clock)
3. Are all apps connected?
4. Any error messages? (Check history)

Solution:

1. Enable if paused
2. Wait for next execution time
3. Reconnect disconnected apps
4. Review error logs and fix issue

```
### Wrong Output Received
```

Check:

1. Is output destination correct?
2. Are permissions correct?
3. Did task complete successfully?

Solution:

1. Verify email/channel/folder
2. Grant necessary permissions
3. Check execution history
4. Edit task to fix issue

```
### Output Quality Poor
```

Check:

1. Is task description clear?
2. Is time range specified?
3. Are all parameters correct?

Solution:

1. Rewrite task description to be more specific
2. Add clear time ranges ("past 24 hours")
3. Adjust parameters
4. Re-test manually

```
### Execution Takes Too Long
```

Check:

1. Is task too complex?
2. Too much data being processed?
3. Are apps slow?

Solution:

1. Simplify the task
2. Narrow the data scope
3. Try at different time
4. Check app status

```
## Tips for Success
### Be Specific
```

Good task description: "Every Monday at 8 AM, research our top 5 competitors for product updates, pricing changes, and new hires. Focus on changes from past 7 days only. Create comparison table. Save to Google Drive /Competitive Analysis folder. Email summary to [product@company.com](mailto:product@company.com)"

Vague task description: "Research competitors"

```
### Define Time Ranges
```

Good:

* "News from past 24 hours"
* "Updates since last week"
* "Changes in past 30 days"

Vague:

* "Recent news"
* "New updates"
* "Recent changes"

```
### Include Output Details
```

Good:

* "Email to [team@company.com](mailto:team@company.com) as 5 bullets"
* "Post to Slack #marketing as formatted table"
* "Save to Google Drive as PDF report"

Vague:

* "Send me the results"
* "Let me know"
* "Create something"

```
### Test First
```

Process:

1. Ask Neuro to run task NOW (not scheduled)
2. Review the output
3. Check formatting
4. Verify it went to correct place
5. Confirm it's what you wanted
6. THEN schedule it

```
